Registration

Online pre-registration for the walking parade requires a $25 donation per canine, and each canine should be controlled by a human handler. Additional handlers can walk with the canine. On-site registration will be available at 2:00PM . However, online pre-registration is strongly advised.

Check-In

Please make sure to check in at the registration table (on the walkway entering Parker Park from Commerce Street) before 3 pm if you pre-registered online. Our check-in volunteers will give you a number to attach to your dog/costume so our judges will know who you are for the costume contest. You have to have a number to participate.

Parade Start

Parade Line-up starts at 3:00 pm at the front of the covered pavilion in Parker Park. The parade FESTIVITIES will begin promptly. We will have volunteers on hand to help you get lined up. Please follow their instructions as they are working with a specific order we give them. Please remember, this is a “walking parade,” we don’t allow anything motorized, including golf carts. Strollers, wagons, and things without a motor to power them are allowed.

Water Stations

We will have a watering station at the parade lineup for the canines. We encourage you to bring whatever your canine will need to be comfortable while waiting in line.

Beat the Heat

It might be hot, and there is no shade in the line up area. Please plan to bring an umbrella or source of shade while you wait if you think you might need that.

Throws

Throws are NOT ALLOWED! Political, inappropriate or controversial/negative displays will not be permitted in the parade. Noisemakers such as confetti canons that create a pop or boom are not permitted.

Pooch Prep

Pooches must be up to date on all their shots and kept on a leash. Retractable leashes are not allowed. Aggressive animals or animals in heat will not be permitted to participate in the event.

Costumes

Let your creativity flow with the costumes! We will be giving out awards for Best Dressed Duo (dog and walker look alike), Female Dog Best in Theme and Male Dog Best in Theme, Most Creative, and Best to Hug - stuffed animal award. Awards will be handed out at the pavilion once the parade ends.

Stay for the Fun!

At the parade’s end point, we will have DOG ADOPTIONS and we will announce the winner of the beautiful 2 gallon steel burner and cast iron pot combo set donated by Leroy's Cajun Cookware.

Emergencies

If your canine has an emergency while at the parade or party, we will do our best to assist you and get your canine to the closest vet. In the event of any other emergency, the Fire Station and Police Department is across the street from Parker Park.
